Center Baptist Church was built in 1905 directly in the center of two communities, Harrells and Garland. The “little church” on the river is known throughout the community. It has been flooded several times, but its roots run deep.

The most recent flood from Hurricane Florence in 2018 caused major damage. The congregation rebuilt the sanctuary just in time for Homecoming in 2023.
